The room looked nice, but it smelled musty. The yard was full of junk, and the pool was closed. After about ten years of traveling in China, I was disappointed by the way they treated travelers. I'd booked a room with a view for three nights, but got a balcony facing a fence that hid a local's garage. They cut metal there late at night. I was offered a 50 yuan discount and told I could accept it or cancel, despite it being 6 a.m. and raining. Customer service was basically take it or leave it. Laundry and taxi service were almost twice the usual price. The location only works if you rent a scooter or bike and take a taxi to get there and leave. If you do, look for one costing 120-130 RMB rather than the 200 RMB the hostel charges.

The room was beautiful, but there was moisture on all the walls and the air conditioning didn't work. The guy at the desk was a disgrace. We rented a scooter, and he didn't give us the deposit back. Then he insulted us in front of all the customers. Seriously, I don't recommend this hostel.

I'm sharing this as a warning, especially for other women traveling alone. I had booked a private room for three nights. The first two were fine, but the last night was terrifying. Around 3 a.m., three men pounded violently on my door, shouted, and yanked the handle. I woke up, turned on the light, and shouted back. They kept yelling and banging so loudly it sounded like they were trying to break in. The security guard could see and hear all of this on the cameras, but never came to help. When things quieted down a little, I called the owner. She said she'd just gone to reception to check the cameras because she'd heard it too. I went downstairs and sat with her and the guard. She said the men were guests who had come back drunk and mistaken my room for theirs. She said she'd deal with the guard for not stepping in because he was afraid of them. She also promised to come down at 7:30 a.m. and kick the men out while I was still there, since I had an 8 a.m. bus. She gave me another room for the last two hours of the night. The guard escorted me upstairs and saw one of the drunk men wandering the halls in his underwear, lurking in dark corners. Again, he did nothing. The hostel seems to have changed owners about three weeks ago. A young Chinese woman and French man are now running it, and they told me there's another co-owner. The next morning, the owner said she wouldn't kick the men out. Her boyfriend came down too and played the whole thing down, even though they had camera footage. He said the guard was scared, and that I shouldn't expect much security at a hostel. He also said the men were drunk, so they couldn't be blamed. I wasn't the only person woken up by them, but I was the only solo woman on that floor. They were trying to get into my room. It's much scarier when you're a woman alone, drunk men are trying your door, and the guard doesn't come even when you're screaming. They didn't remove the three men or refund me, even for the night I couldn't sleep because I was terrified and crying. They didn't offer a sincere apology. They said I couldn't complain because the men hadn't actually broken the door down, and that it wasn't the guard's job to step in because he's a small guy. I honestly don't know what to say. If you travel alone, or simply care about your safety and expect the owners and security staff to do their jobs, I can't recommend this place.

This hostel is a complete joke. They use fake reviews, hurt their customers, and make false claims to the police. They're crooked. Want some advice? Don't waste your money or time. I heard on a forum that they've been sued several times in China. Two foreigners, Andrea and Angel Qi. Not safe at all.

We booked through ctrip, where the hotel is listed under the different name “Yushanju Inn.” They offer several kinds of rooms, and we paid 33 CNY extra per night for a room with a view. When we arrived, we were given a room without one. The only thing outside the window was a bamboo wall two meters away, as shown in the attached picture. We politely asked the manager for the room we'd booked. He said the other rooms on that side had views, but since we were the last to book a view room, this was all that was left. I asked for the price difference back, but he offered no other solution. The receptionist we spoke with the next morning agreed our room had no view and understood why we wanted a refund. Still, she said the manager refused it over the phone. He said I should deal with ctrip because that's where I made the booking, even though the hotel itself lists and sells the rooms. His attitude was what really put us off. In 19 months of traveling around the world, I'd never dealt with a hotel manager so unprofessional, unfriendly, ignorant, and incompetent. His responses to other negative Tripadvisor reviews, and probably this one too, show how he treats people. The internet was extremely slow as well, and water from the air conditioning dripped onto the balcony, making it impossible to sit there. The hotel is already in poor shape for such a new place, and mold is starting to appear in the bathroom. Avoid this hotel. There are better places closer to the city.
