The glass front brings in loads of light and looks out onto a tree-lined promenade, though you’ll want to close the curtains for privacy. I found the noise fine, and earplugs are there for light sleepers. The room’s modern, with tatami mats and a raised wooden sleeping area. There’s a little entry space to leave your shoes before stepping up. Outside, the Li River is across the road, Elephant Hill is a short walk away, and the busy shopping street is just behind. At night the promenade fills with buskers, with food and shops nearby. It’s also easy to get a didi car anywhere. The room itself is lovely and Japanese-styled, with a tea set.

Good value for money. This small hotel has been renovated recently and feels clean and welcoming. The staff are helpful and friendly, and their English is excellent.

There’s no breakfast, though good cafes and pastry shops are close by. The elevator is slow, so we sometimes waited several minutes, and the price was a bit higher than in other areas. Still, we were very happy with our stay and would come back without hesitation. The hotel service was impeccable. The staff were friendly, explained everything from the start, suggested activities, and even gave us a small gift when we left. Our room was very good, with a comfortable floor bed, a great shower that worked perfectly, a small refrigerator, effective air conditioning, and space for suitcases. A large street-facing window looks out, but trees block the view, and there’s hardly any noise. Just to clarify, this is a review of the Riverside Wing Hotel, which is a hotel, not a hostel as another comment says. It’s actually on the corner of Yiren Street and Bingjang Street, next to the Pagdas Park with views of Elephant Hill. Food stalls are nearby, as are good cafes and restaurants.

Jenny arranged a wonderful mountain tour for us, and Bruce and Alyssa even gave us a gift. The hostel is beautiful, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
