The food was tasty, and the older lady who served it was lovely to me and my friends. Still, I was surprised to end up making several trips to the hospital with severe stomach pain. I later learned it was rotavirus.

We had a comfortable room with a nice bathroom and balcony, plus a lovely view. The hotel is right beside the river, and the staff were friendly. I also liked the restaurant: the sweet and sour pork, seaweed soup, vegetable soup, and steamed bean curd were all excellent. There's a swimming pool too.

The fourth-floor rooms facing the river have a stunning view, and the hotel is a peaceful retreat fairly near busy YangShuo. Ours was spacious, clean, and had its own air conditioning. The open-air corridors, with a terrace here and an open wall there, added to the feel of the place. Built between 2004 and 2006, it brings traditional looks together with modern comforts. Staff were warm and helpful. We also took a two-hour calligraphy class with a local professional artist. It was well worth the price, RMB 80-100 per hour depending on group size and number of hours.
