Yangshuo Hidden Dragon Villa Hotel

Angel, Hanna and Xiao looked after us from beginning to end at Hidden Dragon Villa, and the staff made this a perfect couples' getaway. Their travel advice was great, and having e-bikes to explore with helped make the trip unforgettable. Highly recommend for couples.

We found this place by chance in 2016 and were glad we stayed. It was very peaceful, with spectacular views from our room above the entrance, though my children and sister had a different room with a much less impressive view. The building had just two floors around a central courtyard, and the third floor was the restaurant. The staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke English. The hotel driver was pleasant and took us everywhere. The location was quiet but not especially convenient. It was near the park, a pleasant walk from the main road, and not too far from Yangshuo city. The train station had just opened when we were there, and getting to it was quite a trek. After ten days in China, I missed familiar food, but I'd still say to stick with Chinese dishes here. We tried the pizza and it wasn't a good choice. We enjoyed our stay.

The staff made us feel like family and went out of their way to make sure my friends and I had a great stay. They all spoke English very well. Our room had a ten-page guide to things to do in Guilin, and we could book activities at the hotel. Getting into the city took about 30 minutes by bike, while cabs were easy to find if you don't want to ride. There's a restaurant on the top floor with American and Chinese food, both very good and reasonably priced, plus lovely sunset and sunrise views. The hotel itself is a beautiful spot, with a huge, family-style feel. It was also affordable. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in Guilin.
