I loved the view from my room, and the hotel’s just a short walk from Hangzhou Centre and Hangzhou Tower. Even with the language barrier, the staff tried hard to help with every request and make me comfortable. Henley was especially helpful with food and arranging taxis. It was a wonderful stay.

The room’s cigarette smell was so strong it was still there when we returned the next day. I also had trouble getting help by phone because the front desk staff couldn’t speak English. The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, and meets the JW Marriott standard, but those problems need attention. It has a lot of potential.

The hotel service was fine, but the food really let it down. I stayed five days and, on the upside, lost 3kg 🤣. It might be great for local guests, but even though they’re trying, it just didn’t work for me as a Westerner traveling for business. I wouldn’t stay here again.

I’m a lifetime gold member, and I’ve never had such a bad food experience at Marriot on holiday. The mattress was bad too. Breakfast was the worst: my croissant was hard, and my 10 years old son said the pancakes on his plate weren’t edible and seemed like they’d been made 3 days earlier. I’m totally disappointed.

They said every other room was fully booked, so the hotel wouldn’t move me after I complained about a cracked floor-to-ceiling glass panel in my room. That’s completely unacceptable for a safety and comfort issue. I was very disappointed with the service.
