Conrad Hangzhou

I loved the river view from my room on the 49th floor. It was spacious, elegant, and very comfortable, and housekeeping were attentive, friendly, and thoughtful. The hotel’s location made getting around easy, with a mall, supermarket, and metro directly accessible. The riverside running path is just a short walk away. I also liked the facilities: the 24-hour gym is on the 8th floor, and the breakfast and dinner buffets on the 26th floor have plenty of choice and good value. Li An, the Chinese restaurant on the 50th floor, served excellent food at surprisingly reasonable prices. Booking ahead is a good idea. This was one of the best city hotels I’ve stayed in in China. I’d happily come back.

The rooms are nice, but our experience with the restaurants at The Conrad by Hilton in Hangzhou was very disappointing. We chose it because we understood this five-star US hotel chain said its restaurants could accommodate special diets. My daughter is allergic to wheat and gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts, and sesame, so we had researched hotels and restaurants carefully before traveling to China in December 2025. The Langham in Shanghai and In Splendid Clubhouse in Wuzhan went out of their way to make our stay safe and enjoyable. At Li’ An, the Michelin-rated restaurant on the 50th floor, we explained her dietary needs to the host, who spoke to the manager. The manager made a face and waved us away. We were told they couldn’t adjust the menu or make a suitable dish, even though we had brought our own special sauces. Blue Willow on the 27th floor also said the menu couldn’t be changed and the chefs couldn’t prepare a special meal. None of the chefs or restaurants we tried at Conrad Hangzhou was willing to make food for us, despite the hotel’s claims about catering to special diets. I’d advise guests with similar needs to find another hotel and restaurants, somewhere that cares for its guests and meets the standards it claims.

We only had one evening at Conrad Hangzhou and wished we could have stayed longer. The staff were helpful throughout, from the concierge to the reception desk at check-in and check-out. We used the executive floor in the evening and had breakfast in the main restaurant. There’s plenty to do nearby, with a mall next door and the river close by. Enjoy your stay at the Conrad.

The hotel connects straight to Raffles City shopping centre, which makes the location really convenient. Room service was great too. Ms Li Na noticed we were traveling with kids and brought them toiletries and a towel folded into an animal.
