Hilton Hangzhou Qiandao Lake Resort

This is easily the best Hilton I’ve stayed in. As a Hilton Honors Gold member, I got a complimentary upgrade to a lake-view room, free mini-bar drinks, welcome fruit, and breakfast for two. The room was spacious, modern, and clean. It’s away from the city bustle, but convenient for leisure activities. There’s a boat dock behind the hotel with different tours. Breakfast had lots of tasty choices, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I’d highly recommend this Hilton to anyone visiting Thousand Island Lake.

Comfortable room and a great view in a nice hotel. Breakfast was fine, but nothing special. One serious downside was the spa. The massage table smelled strongly of mildew and was hard to breathe around. We had to cut the massage short because it was giving us a bad headache.

The room was spectacular, but it wasn’t ready when we arrived. I also couldn’t get bottled water or room service, despite trying several times. I’d communicated everything in Chinese. There are basic service problems here, and the outdoor BBQ area was filthy.

The view is the one good thing here. Otherwise, it feels like a local hotel, not an international five-star place in Qiandao Lake. During dinner, kids ran around chasing each other in the buffet restaurant while staff just stood by, as if waiting for something to happen. Our late June stay was terrible. It’s a large hotel, yet even the employees seemed to get lost inside it. This is not the choice if you want an international 5-star hotel.
