Hotel Indigo Hangzhou Uptown by IHG

The service felt nicely balanced and enjoyable, and the hotel has real style. Had an outstanding stay.

Breakfast was only mediocre, and I can’t comment on the pool since I didn’t use it. The room layout was poorly thought out: opening the bathroom door meant clearing the space outside it, and the safe sat in a spot that felt dangerous. The decor came off as pretentious, with plastic furniture.

The location made getting around easy, with Shuicheng Bridge Exit B nearby and taxis convenient too. It’s not far from popular sights. I spent three days at Hotel Indigo Hangzhou Shangcheng and had a really good stay. Even with the rain, the view and soundproofing were excellent, and the big hotel has lovely views and plenty of spots for photos. The room had a soft, comfortable bed, central air conditioning with adjustable temperature, a kettle, and a little fridge that kept things cool but not very cold. My booking didn’t include a bathtub, and the toilet and shower were separate. The shower had strong water pressure. There were two small bottles of mineral water and complimentary minibar drinks. The floor was very clean. Free WiFi required a login, but the signal stayed stable for browsing and watching videos. There were two round dining tables, a TV with news and other channels, and the room’s Marshall speaker and Dyson hair dryer were nice touches. I especially liked the speaker and used it to play music. The gym was new and well equipped, and breakfast had a decent range of Chinese and Western dishes. The hotel had only just opened when I visited. A waiter opened the car door and helped with my luggage before I’d even got out. Service felt attentive and had a real sense of occasion. There was a lovely scent as soon as I walked in. The youthful design had a Song Dynasty feel, with cultural and creative touches in both the lobby and rooms. The staff uniforms were distinctive and beautiful, and the lobby had lots of striking photo spots. I’d happily recommend staying here.
