The rooms were nice enough, but checking in was a frustrating experience. We arrived after friends who had already checked in under the same booking and our names, yet staff wouldn’t let us check in until those friends came back down. They spent 15 minutes checking the passport stamps and photographing every page. I was questioned about having entry and exit stamps from the same day, which was from a Hong Kong border day trip. Even after I showed a Canadian passport, the worker asked if we were from Malaysia. I’ve stayed at hotels in five other Chinese cities and never had these problems.
