I really enjoyed the lobby's scent, and the contemporary room design suited my needs. The bathroom was a little small, and, as with all hotels in China, there was no bidet. The breakfast buffet had good choices, especially the yogurt and fresh fruit.

The club lounge's buffet dinner was a nice extra, and it has an amazing view. I was there for three business nights and had a great stay. Rooms were clean and quiet, though a bit warm, and the temperature control didn't seem to work. The breakfast buffet was really great.

The R Bar was the low point for me: there were mosquitoes, no draught beer, and no decent bar snacks. The breakfast buffet also fell short of what I’ve had at other Renaissance Hotels in the country. I stayed for seven nights in June 2023. The hotel has a nice frontage, though reception is small. My room was spacious but quite dated, and room service ended at 11 pm, much like other hotels in the area. Staff weren’t fluent in English, but they clearly made an effort to communicate. The sports complex for the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Sports is right across the road.

The lounge service was outstanding, and Eric and his team took great care of us. Once they learned I like ice water with my coffee, I never had to ask again. Breakfast is a must, too. The indoor pool is one of the best I’ve used, and the locker room has a great steam room. In the lobby, R Bar is a hit with locals and local expats. Hawk and his team are fantastic mixologists. The Tuesday and Wednesday Samba Japanese all-you-can-eat menu is a great deal. The hotel is in a quiet part of town, with two good expat bars nearby if you feel like heading out. I wish I could give it more than five stars.

The club lounge stands out for its food and views, and the breakfast is good as well. The gyms are well equipped compared with similar places in Shanghai. There’s a mall about a 15-minute walk away, and Linping South train station is roughly a 20-minute taxi ride.
