The grounds are lovely, though there’s standing water and plenty of mosquitoes, as can happen anywhere. One thing to know before booking: the hotel website lists an airport shuttle for an extra fee, but when we tried to reserve a seat, we were told it doesn’t exist. The front desk staff are lovely, but speak only Mandarin, so bring your phone for translation and you’ll be fine.

Tianducheng in China, also called Sky City, was designed to look like Paris. It has replicas of the Eiffel Tower, part of the Champs-Élysées, and the Arc De Triomphe.
