Harbin Tianzhi Hotel

The room was spacious and clean, with a shower big enough for two, though probably not four. Breakfast was included, and the location is excellent: TATOCK, the well-known Russian restaurant, is nearby, and the Red Specialty Morning Market is just five minutes away. I think I’d stay again. Finding the entrance took some effort. The hotel there is now called Zhen Tu Hotel (Central Avenue). Look carefully for the sign, then go into the shop and find the building elevator at the back on the left. Reception is on the second floor. At night the souvenir shop was closed, but its door was open and ropes secured the display shelves against theft. Go in through the green electronic sign to the left of the shop photo, as if entering a souvenir shop. I was on the back side of the building, looking out at Chinese-style paintwork, so I kept the curtains shut. If you get a room facing Central King Street, you’re lucky.

Central Street is right across from the hotel, so there’s plenty of dining and shopping nearby, even late at night. The price is reasonable, and the air conditioning worked well. The building is old and the rooms aren’t as good as in newer hotels, but the basics are all there, so I had no complaints. Breakfast is a buffet at a restaurant a short walk away.

The price is reasonable and the room was clean, with working air conditioning. The hallway’s a little dark, though it wasn’t too bad. It’s livable.
