The location is very good, and the pool and gym are great. The room was spacious and comfortable, with practical amenities, but noise still came through from the hallway, neighbours, and street, even on the 40th floor. Staff were friendly and responsible, though a little more attention to basic English would help. I’d recommend the hotel overall, but the food fell short. The restaurant’s Western and international options felt Western in name only, and the breakfast was ordinary in flavour, even if there was enough of it. German Wurst and Italian pizza didn’t really taste like their namesakes, and the spread wasn’t what I’d expect at a five-star hotel.

We had a comfortable stay in a clean, classy setting, at an average daily rate. The hotel is new and well located by a mall and restaurants. Our spacious room had a modern bathroom, cable TV, and Wi-Fi, and the gym and pool were new. Breakfast included local and Western dishes, with good dim sum, noodle soup, eggs, and juices. The front desk, bellhop, housekeeping, and cafe staff were helpful, informative, and efficient. Only the front desk and a few others seemed bilingual, though, so it was a bit hard to get our message across to the rest.

It was 30 degrees Celsius in the room, and there was no air conditioning in winter. Opening the windows barely helped with the heat and only let the smog in.

We had lunch at the Italian restaurant in The Langham Hefei, where our group of eight had a spacious private room and a pleasantly quiet setting. The food was fairly authentic and well prepared, and the prices seemed reasonable for a hotel. Service stayed attentive throughout without ever feeling intrusive.
