Conrad Hong Kong

We got upgraded to a suite on the executive floor with a peak view. Service was great, and breakfast was good, though the buffet used to be better. Hopefully it'll improve by our next visit. Harbor-view rooms are hard to come by because of the commercial buildings in front.

The staff were excellent throughout our New Year stay. They handled questions quickly, efficiently, and courteously, and they really make the place. Our room was on the 60th floor and included lounge access, but the lounge was cramped and the food was poor compared with Shangri La. Next to the Shangri La hotels across the border in Shenzhen, the difference was almost embarrassing. Our room was in somewhat poor shape, with stained walls and ceilings that needed work. The lifts are awful and feel dated. A lot of the hotel seems tired, small, and lacking compared with what's available in Shenzhen. Even the minibar prices annoyed me: after paying over $4000 a night, I don't see why a can of Coke needs an 800% markup. For the price, the hotel is fortunate to have such great staff. The product itself was disappointing.

I've visited Hong Kong countless times since I was a little girl in 1966, but this was my first stay at the Conrad. My daughter suggested it for my birthday this year, and we arrived on Lunar New Year's Day to find the entrance and lobby beautifully decorated. The room on the 54th floor had a breathtaking view, especially after dark. We enjoyed the Western and Chinese breakfast buffet, and after our day trip to Macau, turndown service brought a delicious chocolate birthday cake as a surprise. A lovely way to end the night. The staff and housekeeping did a great job. I'd absolutely stay at the Conrad again.

The executive lounge team were so attentive and professional during my recent stay. Kay was awesome, and when she told me the delicious panettone was homemade, I could hardly believe it. Room service was great too. Looking forward to coming back!
