Gateway Hotel

The continental club floor at Gateway Hotel feels like home to us, and the team is why we'll return. Manager Viann clearly sets a warm tone. We've seen her laughing and having lunch with her staff, and the whole group comes across as united and happy. That positive, professional energy reaches the guests. Hei in the breakfast lounge gave us the most attentive club-floor service we've had anywhere. He noticed when tea needed refilling and plates could be cleared, often before we realized it ourselves. After my husband mentioned one morning that he wanted bananas, Hei had them on our table every day after that. Andrea and Amber were also stars, greeting us with sweet smiles. When we asked about transport or directions, they promptly looked things up and gave us accurate answers. We've stayed in other hotel club lounges, but this service felt personal and genuine. We'll definitely be back.

Gateway Hotel in Hong Kong welcomed us before and after our recent trip to the mainland. When we returned for our second check-in, front desk staff Jordan, Nicky, and Jason, along with concierge team David and Mathew, greeted us by name with so much warmth it felt like coming home to family. It was heartwarming. They even upgraded us to a beautiful suite. We're grateful to everyone at Gateway for the hospitality.

It’s attached to a huge mall and right by the harbour, with a subway station and Kowloon park close by. We loved staying here. The rooms are large, the beds comfortable, and the bathroom is spacious with a power shower.

The room was VERY dirty. There were nuts and food crumbs from previous guests on the carpet, a coffee mark on the table, a dirty fridge, and an old, mouldy sofa. The sheets were dusty, and although we registered three guests, amenities were set out for only two. Our extra-bed request wasn't fulfilled, so we had a terrible night squeezed onto two singles with lousy pillows. The hotel also didn't provide the HKD200 Octopus card included in my package. At breakfast, a man at the next table coughed nonstop. After he left, staff only wiped the table with a dry cloth. They didn't sanitize it. I'm no germ freak, but this level of cleanliness made me really uncomfortable. I won't return.
