Harbour Inn

It smelled awful, and there were strange insects in the room that bit my face. I packed up and left right away because I didn’t want to stay there. They also demanded a $200 deposit at check-in even though I’d already paid for the room. This scam hotel uses two names, metacity mk and harbour inn. Avoid at all costs.

The location was the best part, with public transport easy to reach, and the customer service was good. The staff can help people who speak English. The room was very cold throughout my stay because the air conditioning wasn’t working properly. For Hong Kong, I’d call the place average.

It’s easy enough to reach once you find your way from the MTR. The simplest route is out of C Langham Place, then around the back of the building and a couple of blocks on. I liked the quiet, the comfortable lounge with WiFi and good air conditioning, the fairly new toilets, and the friendly woman serving breakfast. The room air conditioning was poor. With the east-west orientation, street-facing rooms get overheated like an oven around 4/5pm and take a couple of hours to cool in the evening. There was no WiFi signal on my floor despite the hotel claiming there was, and management made no effort to fix it. Breakfast choices were limited: hard boiled eggs, banana, some vermicelli, porridge and toast, with few toppings.

The Wi-Fi was very slow. My boyfriend and I both developed rashes after sleeping there. Maybe the sheets weren’t clean, or maybe there were bugs we couldn’t see. There were also black mold spots on the cushion pillows. It just didn’t feel clean to me.
