InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong Hotel

The property is conveniently located, and the staff were friendly and well trained. We appreciated the complimentary room upgrade, which gave us high hopes for our three-night stay. Then, at around 10 p.m. on our first night, we found a large cockroach in the bathroom. We had to call the front desk to have a cleaner remove it. It had crawled over some of my sanitary and makeup items. I had to wash most of them thoroughly and throw several away for hygiene reasons, which was extremely upsetting. The next day, staff apologized and offered complimentary breakfast. It was a kind gesture, but we already had breakfast plans and declined. It did little to ease the discomfort and disappointment. We understand the building is older, but this shouldn't happen at any hotel, and it was especially unacceptable at an InterContinental. The incident left our experience far below what we'd expected from the brand.

We ate at Mistral, where the authentic Italian food was up to a very high standard. The service there was attentive but relaxed, just like elsewhere in the hotel, and we would certainly return on our next trip. The Grand Stamford has a lovely classic feel, with larger, more comfortable rooms than the newer hotels in Hong Kong. Our room was well appointed, and we were very glad to receive a suite upgrade. Every staff member made us feel welcome, especially the team in the Club.

The hotel feels a bit old school, and some areas are dated, though the room itself was fine. Staff were good with our luggage, especially when helping load it from vehicles, which I appreciated. For travelers in our 20s and 30s, the location wasn't ideal. It's a bit of a walk to the red line TST station, which gets you to many tourist spots, and the nearest bus stops aren't especially close either. Getting to and from the airport by taxi is convenient, though.

The location worked really well for us. Several vegetarian restaurants were within walking distance for dinner, and there was a McDonald's, 7 Eleven's, and more on the street just across from the hotel. It's also a great spot for high-end shopping. I'd recommend staying here in the Tsim Sha Tsu Area. I stayed in June 2025 with my one-year-old infant, and the staff were very accommodating. They arranged an early check-in because of the baby, and the front desk went out of their way to help with everything. Breakfast was fantastic every day, with plenty of vegetarian choices. The restaurant staff were helpful and even suggested dishes from the breakfast menu to try.
