Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong

We had a lovely, spacious, clean room overlooking the Harbour, with an unobstructed view. The hotel is decorated for the Year of the Horse at the moment. Omar gave us a great dining suggestion, and the staff were attentive and seemed to anticipate what we needed. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, had some al fresco dining at the Tapas Bar, and later relaxed over a cocktail in the lobby. There are lots of other dining options nearby as well. Avenue of the Stars is right across the street along the Harbour, a lovely spot for a stroll. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the Star Ferry Terminal for easy access to Central Hong Kong, and taxis are easy to find for other trips.

Getting around was easy, with the waterfront and plenty of places nearby. Kowloon Shangri-La felt luxurious but still welcoming, and it was spotless and beautifully kept. Our room was quiet and comfortable, with thoughtful attention to detail. Every staff member we met was friendly, professional, and ready to help. The whole stay felt easy and relaxing. I’d gladly return and recommend it.

The Horizon Club had a good selection, though during the holiday season it was crowded and we sometimes waited for breakfast or evening cocktails. Our New Year’s Eve dinner at Angelini was a highlight. We weren’t sure about Italian fine dining in Hong Kong, but the food was fantastic and very high quality, with a price to match. We had a Harbor View room on the top floor, and the vista was spectacular. The decor isn’t ultra-modern, but the room was very well maintained and quiet, with a large, comfortable bed. The location is unbeatable. I used to stay at the Shangri-La Kowloon often for business over 30 years ago, then stayed at many other Hong Kong hotels and assumed this one might feel dated. I came back for the New Year holidays this year and was delighted. The staff were incredibly attentive. I’ll book the Shangri-La Kowloon again on my next Hong Kong trip.

We spent 3 nights here as a family, and I’d definitely stay again when I’m in Hong Kong. The location is amazing, with a churros place nearby that we loved and a kids’ playground just across the street. Amber Lee was so cute and welcoming at check-in, and everyone else, from the porters to the room cleaners, was awesome too. The rooms were spacious and had everything we needed. The aircon worked fine, and we could warm the room with it so the kids were comfortable.
