Lanson Place Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Housekeeping was attentive and brought extra drinking water during the hot weather. The concierge team made us comfortable while our check-in documents were prepared, and the process was quick. Our luggage was delivered to the room while check-in was still underway. The location is great too, just a few minutes’ walk from Causeway Bay MTR. I’d come back to this hotel.

The hotel has a cute design and was quiet, with good sound insulation despite being in a busy part of causeway bay. I’d wanted to like it, but the service disappointed me. I booked with Amex and had a $100 USD credit that I thought applied to any food. I ordered room service, then found out at checkout that it wasn’t covered. It felt kind of like a scam. I wouldn’t have paid $400 hkd for a tiny piece of pork and an even smaller salad.

I’ve been coming here for work at least twice a year, usually for 5-7 days each time, and have done so for at least two years. The reception staff used to be warm and personal, always greeting me and chatting. On my visit a few days ago, I didn’t see the people who used to work here, and the service had dropped a lot. The doorman didn’t hold the door or help with luggage. At breakfast, I asked to have coffee first and come back for food after the gym, as I’d been allowed to do before, but the receptionist insisted I eat right then. I ended up eating before my workout. I then asked for four fried eggs, which I’ve ordered before without trouble, but the service person said I could only have two. When I explained, he gave me an “okay fine” look and walked away. That’s disappointing treatment of a client, and I hope management sees this and makes changes before my next visit. Otherwise, I’ll seriously consider not returning.

The soundproofing was excellent, so we slept really well, and the location is handy, in a quiet corner of one of HK’s busiest districts, close to the MTR, bus stops, and lots of good restaurants. We loved our stay at Lanson Place and will be back. A few days before check-in, they emailed to collect guest details and ask about a transfer. After our 14-hour flight, we were offered herbal tea while staff handled check-in, and our luggage was already in the room when we arrived. When my child woke hungry at 1 am, someone at reception walked us to a nearby restaurant that was still open. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout, especially Annie at the hotel restaurant. There’s free self-service laundry and complimentary sparkling wine in the afternoon too. I’ve already recommended it to friends and family who visit HK often. We switched hotels for the second half of the trip for a change, then immediately wished we could go back to Lanson Place.
