The main issue was the deposit. They took a month’s rent and were supposed to return it within a month of checkout, but there was no refund or anyone to follow up with. After I chased them several times and got no feedback, I eventually received the money two months after checkout, when I said I’d seek help from the police or other relevant authorities if it wasn’t returned by a certain date. It felt like a regular issue for the company. The whole experience made me think they might be closing down and didn’t care about maintaining the property or customer relations. I can’t even call it a hotel or serviced apartment, and I definitely don’t recommend it. I’d choose a proper hotel instead. It wasn’t comfortable at all. I stayed for a month, and the room was smaller than the website said. It looked bleak and clearly wasn’t maintained regularly: there was mould on the ventilation, grout between the bathroom tiles, and visible water leak marks on the ceiling. The facilities were dated, with no Smart TV, so no YouTube or Netflix. Housekeeping came once a week, and I kept finding hair in the bath and on fresh towels and bed sheets after they cleaned. Laundry wasn’t complimentary, and I had to bring my own detergent. We chose the place because we wanted to cook, but the room didn’t feel clean or suitable, so we never cooked.
I loved staying here. The room was spacious at 54sqm, and it’s close to pretty much everything. The hotel can look hard to find, but it’s actually on the same street as n.tel century. There’s less service than at normal hk hotels, but I’d trade that for the air.
There was mold in the bathroom, and the AC was so noisy I couldn’t sleep. The room felt uninhabitable. There’s no reception, just a security guy, so if you have a complaint you have to wait until 9am, when the hotel department may respond remotely. It’s definitely not a 4 star hotel. I literally ran out at 6am and found another hotel. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. Think twice before booking.
I had a wonderful seven days at V Wan Chai. Mr George Lee made the stay joyful with his warm hospitality. Heartfelt thanks to him.
The room is spacious and modern, and the hospitality was very nice. The A/C was a bit loud, but I can live with it as white noise and slept quite well. Highly recommended.
