Wanda Realm Huaian

The hotel is clean and really good. The staff were very nice, and they let us check out late, at 3:00 pm. The location is good too, near wandaplaza.

We’d been looking forward to staying here, but the air conditioning and heating in our room smelled moldy. The hotel offered us another room, and we asked them to check it before we moved. It was on the executive floor, so we hoped it would be fine, but the mold was just as obvious around the air conditioning grill and nearby surfaces. They then offered to check four more rooms. Every one had the same problem, with mold stains and visible mold on the grill. We’ve had headaches after sleeping in similar conditions before, followed by two weeks of antibiotics to recover, so we couldn’t accept this. We had to pay the $85 cancellation fee, which they wouldn’t refund because the booking was through a third-party company. That’s true, but a five-star hotel should still do what it can to make guests comfortable. Instead, we had to find another hotel ourselves. They did offer to call us a taxi, and that was all. It’s an impressive-looking, expensive hotel, but the poor maintenance of the air system let it down badly. If you’re sensitive to mold, I’d stay somewhere else. I’m sorry to say that, but other travelers considering this place should know.

For the price, this is a pretty decent hotel compared with other parts of China. The room was nice and clean, though a few things could be improved. I’m not going to complain about that. Check that the AC works as soon as you get into the room. Some units don’t, and you may need to change rooms.

The room was clean and nice, but it was 28°C and there was no AC to cool it down. The no-smoking signs seem to be only suggestions. People smoked everywhere, even right in front of staff who did nothing.
