Double-check the address before booking: there is another Huangshan Tiandu International Hotel some distance away, and the prices differ quite a bit. This one, at 5 Tiandu Avenue, seems to be the budget choice. It's outside the city centre, about a 10-minute, 10 RMB ride or a 30-minute walk from Old Street, where the tourist spots and eateries are clustered. There's not much around the hotel, though a side street has restaurants that are cheaper and, to me, tastier than the hotel's supposedly famous restaurant. Nearby are wine, smoke, and convenience shops, plus fruit stores for quick, inexpensive refreshments. There's no pool. The hotel does have a grocery shop and a collectibles shop with local signature rocks and fossils, but the listed prices may not be the best deal. The room supplies are basic: shampoo, conditioner, bath foam, a toothbrush, and slippers, but no bathrobe or facial tissues. The in-room booklet shows a jogging path leading to the nearby waterway. The staff are friendly, though their English is limited for a hotel calling itself International. A major bank ATM is right across the street, and several bank branches are within walking distance.
