The room was clean, and the front desk staff were efficient and friendly. A nearby mall has a supermarket and lots of small eateries, so the location is convenient. But the free Wi-Fi in the hotel and room was so weak that I switched back to my data plan. Breakfast starts at 6:30 a.m. at the cafe, which was inconvenient when we had to leave early for work and catch the company bus. We had to rush, and many good hotels start breakfast at 6:00. One evening I ordered room service. Because of the language barrier, staff came to take my order in person, but despite confirming it clearly, they brought the wrong food. Also, the wall socket near the study table was in such poor shape that I couldn’t use it, likely from heavy use by guests.

There’s a pond outside, and the location is good. There’s a food mall just a few metres away, plus a gym and swimming pool. The food was good too.

I want to thank front desk staff member Ms Ye Li Fen for going out of her way to help me pay RMB 1 so I could retrieve my parcel from the delivery locker. That personal touch made my day better. Li Fen is a real asset to the hotel. Please pass along my sincere thanks to her. I’ll definitely stay at Ramada Huizhou South again just for her.

Our taxi from Goungzhou broke down, and the hotel came to pick us up. Great service. We also loved the Japanese restaurant, which reminded us of the year we lived in Tokyo.
