Sheraton Bailuhu Resort, Huizhou

I'm very concerned about security and safety after this unsettling incident. My family and I had booked a quick one-night getaway at the Sheraton Bailuhu Resort. Check-in and the evening were uneventful until around 10pm, when someone knocked loudly and demanded to come in with a fruit amenity. I was suspicious because the Do Not Disturb sign was on, and it seemed late for room service. Through the spyhole I saw two men who didn't appear to be in hotel uniforms and had no name tags. Every hotel associate I'd seen had a name tag pinned to the left chest, except senior management. I couldn't see any fruit amenity either. I said I didn't want the fruit, but the man kept knocking and insisting I open the door so he could deliver it. They continued banging and telling me to let him in. I repeated that I didn't want it and asked them to leave. They went on for a few more minutes before finally leaving. My elderly mother was terrified by what happened. I reported it immediately to several members of senior management. They did little to resolve my complaint and said the staff were new and lacked training. I've stayed at Sheraton's before and never encountered staff out of uniform or anyone disturbing guests with the Do Not Disturb sign on.

The place looks nice, but that’s about where the good part ends. Check-in was slow, there weren’t enough elevators, the dining room was crowded, and room service took ages. The location is inconvenient, the service was bad, and the food was only mediocre. It doesn’t live up to Sheraton’s quality. They push a discounted food and stay package to bring people in, so the hotel gets packed and many dishes run out during meals. Guests were left waiting a long time or scrambling for food. The food and service quality were both low.

Really great 😊

A few things stood out during this sweltering summer stay. The room had no air conditioning, just drafts, and the hotel said it was cold outside so the room felt stuffy. Maybe every room comes with its own sauna. I spent the whole night in it, apparently. The sheets had blood stains, perhaps that was meant to show how well the mosquito control worked. The food was bland, tasteless, and repetitive too, as if they were trying to make a small group of friends look like a huge army in a TV drama. Shiraton certainly met expectations.
