Hilton Huzhou Nanxun

It’s an impressive, unusual hotel, though the breakfast didn’t measure up to what I’ve had at Banyan Tree and Peace Hotel.

The breakfast had a tasty mix of Chinese and Western dishes, and I left feeling refreshed. The rooms are roomy, with lovely views, and the thoughtful in-room facilities made the stay comfortable. At night, the hotel shines like a bright, colorful planet over Nanxun. Inside, the rooftop opens all the way down to the ground floor without beams or pillars, which really shows off the architecture and construction. It was a feast for the eyes and senses, and the best hotel I’ve stayed in.

There’s no shopping nearby since this is a newly developed area, but taxis are easy to book and Nanxun Ancient Town is close. You’ll need to take a taxi there for restaurants and convenience stores. The room was spacious and comfortable, though the water pressure was low. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including Chinese and Western dishes. There were fresh noodles and savory porridge, along with bread, cakes and baguettes. Eggs came boiled, poached or soft-boiled, and there were omelets and Eggs Benedict too. Lots of options if you want to take your time over brunch.

The hotel has great facilities, with spacious rooms, lots of photo spots, and the feel of a well kept older property. There’s a huge selection of food, though I didn’t find the food itself especially good. Service was less impressive, particularly the disappointing response when the air conditioner broke.
