We picked Espace Elastique in Tai O for a Hong Kong stopover and loved how calm it felt compared with Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. The B&B sits in the middle of the pedestrian village and has three rooms; ours was a spacious, comfortable deluxe double with a balcony across its full width. Veronica was friendly and professional, and made late check-in easy. She met us at the taxi drop-off and walked us to the property, then helped load our bags onto a trolley for the ten-minute walk back to the taxi when we left. There’s also an on-site cafe with delicious food and drinks. We’re already talking about staying at Espace Elastique again on our next trip through Hong Kong. Thanks, Veronica, we’d recommend it.

The owner was kind and welcoming, and speaks French fluently as well as English. Our room was clean, roomy, and very nice, and the hotel’s right in the middle of the village. We had a perfect stay, thank you again.

I didn’t stay at the hotel, but the restaurant service was great. I’m a picky eater and really liked the Ying Yang pesto pasta, and my parents were happy with their meals too. The owner speaks English and French, which should make communication clear and easy for tourists.

Even after three nights in peaceful Tai O, there were still places we hadn’t explored. Espace Elastique worked well as a base because it’s centrally located, and I’d definitely return. Our room was spacious and clean, with a balcony looking over the street that was nice for people-watching. The bus terminal is only a few minutes away, with service to Mui Wo for ferries to the islands and to Tung Chung for shopping and dining. From Tung Chung, another bus makes it the fastest and cheapest way to the airport. Tai O is also a good base for Lantau’s walking trails, since public transport to the trailheads isn’t complicated.

I’ve come here four times for lunch, three times by bike from Tung Chung and once by boat followed by a hike. The place has a cosy feel and the service is always spot on. Cooking can take longer than usual, which fits the slow, relaxing atmosphere they’ve created. The food is decent, though not gourmet level, which makes sense for a family-run place. My experience with the coffee is limited, but I liked it. The pizza and skewers are must-tries. I’ll keep coming back when I’m in the area.
