Lychee Sunset Hotel Cheung Chau

It felt clean, new, and safe, helped by being next to the police station. They accept bookings for one person, which most places in Cheung Chau don’t. The room had hot water, strong AC, clean towels, daily cleaning, and bathroom supplies, and there’s a nice rooftop. The thin walls are a problem. I could hear the neighbors talking, their TV, coughing, and other noise outside early in the morning and at night. The coughing was pretty gross during my stay. The room itself is comfortable, though the bed is quite hard. Quiet depends on who your neighbors are, so it’s not guaranteed and isn’t the hotel’s fault. For the smallest basement room, $680 on weekdays and $780 on weekends doesn’t feel like great value compared with better island locations that have views. If you want somewhere very clean and safe, it may still suit you. They no longer serve breakfast on the rooftop.

The beds were much too hard for our taste, but otherwise the family room was great for what we needed: a quick getaway with somewhere to leave our bags and sleep. The staff were really friendly and courteous, and the rooftop bar was lovely for the views and an evening drink.

The balcony was a lovely place to sit with drinks and enjoy the view of Cheung Chau. We had a deluxe balcony room for two nights, and it was plenty big for us and our baby. The decor is modern, and the hotel is very clean, with a fantastic rooftop. Breakfast was pretty good for the price and served up on the roof. The staff were really friendly, and the shower was good and hot. Lychee really sets the bar for hotels in Cheung Chau.

We had a great stay at Lychee hotel with our 2 years old baby. It’s in a central but quiet spot, which was ideal. Our second-floor room had a nice balcony with a sea view, and the AC worked perfectly. The master bed was bigger than it looked in the pictures, a pleasant surprise. The only downsides were a bit of noise through the room door insulation and a mattress that was too hard.
