NANJING GOLDSTAR HOTEL

We picked this hotel for our family trip to Nanjing because the price was reasonable compared with other places. We stayed from 26/10/2019 to 2/11/2019. The rooms were cleaned daily, with fresh towels, face cloths, toothbrushes and toothpaste, plus shower gel and shampoo. Staff were warm, polite, patient with our questions, and easy to approach. We were given two superb rooms at check-in. The food was a nice mix of traditional Chinese breakfast, including dumplings, and the usual Western-style options. There was also a daily lunch buffet for 28 Yuan (3.98 USD/5.67 AUD/3.55 Euro). There's a gym for guests who want to work out while travelling. The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from the metro and close to major shopping centers, including “House of Frasers”. You can also use the front entrance for DiDi Ridesharing. Sorry, my French isn't good, it's my fourth language.

We'd had two wonderful stays at hotels in the same region with our students, so this should have been a nice end to our school trip. Instead, things became a nightmare as soon as we arrived at the Gold Star's. Despite the desperate efforts of our Chinese guide to help, the receptionists were very unwelcoming about the ID checks, and registering our group took 3 hours. We had booked 29 rooms, and the bathrooms were clearly only superficially cleaned. The hotel is well located, but it doesn't meet the standards it claims to. Foreigners who love China should avoid this place.
