The backyard view and the hotel's beauty were highlights, with thoughtful Chinese cultural touches throughout. But my stay fell short of what I expect from Marriott Bonvoy. My first room had a strong cigarette smell; after I raised it, staff moved me to an upper-floor room with a balcony, which I appreciated. The air conditioner never worked, though, and the room stayed too warm. It was especially uncomfortable on the last day when it was very hot outside. I also got the impression that some staff weren't properly trained, as they seemed disengaged. I’m leaving this feedback here because I never received a guest satisfaction survey after my stay.

The room was quiet and clean, and the location near the lake is great. March and late October are lovely times for an evening walk around it. We also enjoyed breakfast and the happy hour at Pavilion restaurant.
