Zhuhai Marriott Hotel Jinwan

There was plenty to do nearby, and the location was good. The hotel was very clean, the WiFi worked well, and there were lots of food options. A very good hotel.

This morning, as I was checking out, I saw five people in suits smoking by the ninth-floor elevator. They must have been employees. I complained to the front desk on the 22nd floor. This is supposed to be a non-smoking place!!!!!

Room access through the lifts is a bit odd and should be simpler, and room service hours really need extending. The M club could use more food choices and more flexible hours, too. Please have more English-speaking staff. The location and hotel are good, breakfast is good, and the Chinese restaurant is excellent.

The M club happy hour was great, and who doesn’t love free booze? The gym and pool were nice, too. Breakfast had a wide choice of Asian and Western treats, and I liked the custom noodle bar. The room service menu was pretty average. I was on level 21, one floor below the main hotel restaurant, Zhuhai Kitchen. Early in the morning I could hear furniture and objects being dragged around from my room. My colleagues were on other floors and luckily didn’t have the same problem. The service on my last night was really poor. My company made the booking, and I had six nights reserved. On day five, I asked for one more night through my company travel agent, and the Marriot concierge confirmed it that same day. I went to pay for the stay early on my last night so I could leave conveniently in the morning. It seems the hostess charged me for only the original six nights, and neither of us noticed. I went to bed without knowing. At 1:30 in the morning, senior staff rudely woke me and insisted I pay an extra deposit because the additional night hadn’t been paid for. You’d think a five-star hotel that often has business travellers would see a confirmed extra night and understand that any payment discrepancy could wait until morning. This really soured my experience. Aside from the noise and that incident, it was a nice hotel.
