Pingyao Yunlu Inn

It feels more like a basic guesthouse than a hotel, and by hotel standards it's a little rudimentary. The kang-style bed is unusual, though it isn't a real kang, so you can't burn charcoal underneath it in winter. I liked the distinctive wooden tables and chairs, the telephone that looks like one from the early Republic of China era, and the antique-style door lock. The room is small, and with no wardrobe to hang coats or trousers, it was inconvenient. The bathroom has separate shower and toilet, and hygiene was acceptable. Breakfast is Chinese, with fewer than ten choices, but the food tastes alright. I'd rate it 3.5 stars.
