The Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel

I loved getting around on a rented bicycle or e-bike. It made trips from the hotel around town and to my destinations so pleasant. The location is great too, near the national park, walking routes, restaurants, and music. The grounds have paths and sights of their own, and the whole place feels like a resort. I'd happily stay longer and explore at leisure. The city itself seems relaxed and welcoming. The rooms are luxurious and worth the price, with a comfortable, well-designed bed and shower, and everything was clean and inviting. The beds are soft and well appointed, and the toiletries are high quality. Breakfast had an excellent selection and was fresh each day. From the rooftop breakfast table, you can watch noodles being stretched, with a view.

The bathroom toilet had a few problems, but the room was clean and roomy. Breakfast was good, with handmade noodles, omelets, and more. I found the daily meal tickets a bit clumsy.

The rooftop breakfast, especially the hand-pulled noodles, was a highlight. The Silk Road Hotel is huge and has lots of services and amenities, but the cosy rooms and their decor are what made it feel different. The furnishings are welcoming and homey, and the bed was really comfortable. I noticed a very faint cigarette smell in the bedding. Otherwise, it’s a distinctive hotel with plenty of character and charm.

We didn't stay overnight, but visited twice for drinks and dessert on the amazing rooftop terrace. The sunset views over the dunes and the drone light show were amazing.
