The location on the outskirts of the city makes taxi access inconvenient, though the hotel can also be reached via freeway No. 2 from Yangguan Middle Road. A freeway connects Dunhuang Railway Station to the city center, and the trip into town costs just 5 yuan. Dunhuang Xintai Hotel (Dunhuang Xintai Hotel: South Side of No. 215 National Highway, Dunhuang, Gansu, China) is a 4-star hotel in Qili Town, 21km southwest of Dunhuang. It's 25km from Dunhuang Railway Station, 12km from Mingsha Mountain, and 38km from the Mogao Grottoes. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean, and well equipped, as you'd expect from a 4-star hotel. The staff are warm and friendly, almost like family. Apart from the limited freeway access, I found the hotel generally satisfactory. For reference, a taxi from the hotel to Makgogul Digital Media Center costs 50 won.
