The rooftop gave us a glimpse of the golden summit of Mount Gongga, and the owner kindly moved us to a stargazing room at no extra cost since it was the off-season. There weren’t many stars because it wasn’t the right time of year. We stayed just after Spring Festival, before local Tibetans had begun their commercial activities, so the choices around us were limited. Breakfast was only noodles, though the chili was fragrant with a little heat. Probably the best hotel in Xinduqiao.
