The suite was about 40 sqm, a good size for three nights, and had nice views. It was clean, fairly quiet, and comfortable, with nice linen and towels. The location was excellent, the lifts were quick and adequate in number, and check-in and check-out were easy. The living room would be more useful with a small dining table and a couple of chairs. A standard jug or kettle and a small microwave would also be handier than their “fancy” water boiler. I understand hotels in Hong Kong often don’t provide complimentary plastic water bottles for environmental reasons, but there should be an alternative, like glass bottles or a shared filter or dispenser on each floor. Having to buy water every day was a hassle. These are small criticisms, but addressing them would have made the stay perfect.

Service was always nice, with plenty of staff around, and check-in was very efficient. The hotel is in a good location, less than 1 km from several transport hubs, with the main streets a few hundred meters away. The room was fine but barebones, and the bathroom and shower worked without problems. The bed was really hard, the internet was slow, and the air conditioning was so loud I could hear it through earplugs. Everything was clean enough. Breakfast was okay, though it felt more like a 7-10€ breakfast than one costing 20€. I could stay again, but not at the price I paid. At 700 HKD per night, I might consider it. By European standards, I’d put it closer to a 2-3 star hotel than 4 stars.

The location was great, the cost reasonable, and the rooms a little dated, as other reviewers have said. Two things spoiled our stay. We booked for two adults and one child, but there was only one bed in the room. I was told an extra bed would cost more, which I’ve never encountered before. When I book for three people, I normally expect sleeping space for all of us. The website didn’t make this clear, and there was no option to book another bed. The staff stuck to “company policy” even after we argued the point. In the end, my son slept in our bed because I refused to pay $385 a night for an extra bed that I felt should already have been provided. If you’re traveling with children, call or email the hotel directly to make sure there are enough beds. I reported this issue to the ombudsman. For three nights, our room also smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. We complained at the front desk, and they sent up a filter machine, which helped. Once, though, the smell was so strong it hurt our eyes, and we had two machines running at full speed. Housekeeping said people commonly smoked in other rooms and the smell spread through the hotel. It’s a non-smoking hotel, and after the recent Tai Po disaster, I found this shocking. The smoke alarms in the rooms seemed to be deactivated, since they should have gone off when someone lit a cigarette. I’ll report this issue too.

The concierge team and breakfast buffet staff were wonderful. Marcos and Anson went above and beyond when I asked for help with our luggage. With two little ones and large bags, getting everything from Hong Kong to China was difficult. The front desk referred me to the concierge, who made sure we weren’t stressed and even brought our luggage back to the front desk before we left for the taxi. The buffet staff were quick, helpful, and accommodating.
