This is the place for you if you want a room barely fit for a refugee, with a sanitary pad left by another guest curled up beside an exposed, yellowed toilet brush.

The room at European hostel was so cramped it barely fit a bed and a very small fridge. The bathroom was tiny too, and it was best to stand on the tub to shower. The sheets were dirty. Downstairs, small local stalls sold terrible food that wasn’t cheap. I found a clean, modern fast food place with very cheap portions on the second floor of the neighboring Western shopping area instead. There’s a metro station close to Europe hostel, a bus stop across the road with service to the airport, and a nearby pier where you can catch a very cheap ferry to Hong Kong. There was also a beautiful, large park nearby. The one elevator serving the hostel always had a long queue.

Good value for the money. Check-in was quick, the room was clean, and the bed comfortable. Excellent location.
