I hardly ever write reviews, but this was horrific. I booked two weeks ahead, then showed up and was told there’d been a mistake and my reservation was cancelled. The staff didn’t seem sorry and gave me little explanation. This happened at 10pm after a long, exhausting flight. I had to find another hotel on the spot, which took hours and cost a lot more. Completely disorganized and incompetent. Avoid this place.

The room and accommodation were poor and small, but the owner was polite and willing to help. It could work if you need an affordable bed for 2-3 nights.

We ended up being moved twice, and each room was worse than expected. We’d booked Hi-inn, but a nice woman first put us in a different two-bed room until ours would be ready the next day. We were annoyed and unsettled by how different it looked from the pictures, but couldn’t find somewhere else at such short notice. After 12 hours walking and sweating around HKG, we were asked to move again at night, this time to new guangzhou guest house. It took about 30-40 minutes, with only two elevators for each section and lots of people waiting. The second room was smaller, mouldier and had no window, toilet paper or duvets. The TV didn’t work, and only the brave would touch its remote. Nobody apologized. It seems like standard procedure here. The whole Chung King Mansion experience was awful: dirty, creepy staircases with what looked like vomit, poo or maybe someone dead, pushy people selling hostel rooms, weird smells and cockroaches. I can only speak for the places I experienced, but I suspect the "hostels" on Nathan Street are alike. Avoid staying here if you can, it could ruin your impression of the whole city.

The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and the location was convenient. My friend and I were comfortable here, so I don’t know why some reviews say bad things. You can use a refrigerator and microwave.

The staff were kind and gave us hot water, a refrigerator and microwave to use. The wifi was free and fast.
