Mij (Kai Tak) Hotel

The location is close to buses and the underground, and the hardware was okay. But my nine-day stay was very dirty. The room wasn't cleaned, and neither the sheets nor pillowcase were changed. I reported that the shower gel dispenser didn't work, but nothing was done. The air conditioning went down one night, and there was no hot water one morning; service was restored after I reported it. The room and door also had poor soundproofing. If cleanliness isn't a concern for you, you could stay here.

We booked at the last minute on our second trip to Hong Kong and were glad to find this place. The price seemed reasonable for the location, and getting around by subway was easy. At the front desk, a staff member greeted me in my language, which surprised me in a nice way. He spoke Thai, Cantonese, and English, and his service was wonderful. I'd recommend the hotel for a short vacation.

I booked through Trip.com for 943,035 KRW, but had to leave and cancel, and Trip.com wouldn't let me post this review there. There are comparable hotels across the street for the same price, and after this I found a much nicer one for 782,812 KRW. The front desk staff were kind and listened to me, so I don't blame them or the maintenance staff for how they handled my complaint. My problem was the state of the hotel and how Trip.com handled the cancellation. The lobby carpet had a brown stain about 20cmx10cm and badly frayed edges. The lift carpet was just as disgusting. I tried not to judge too quickly, but the room was run down too: thick dust on every vent, unexplained wall stains, mould in the bathroom caulk, limescale everywhere, and odd wetness behind the sink while the rest was dry. It looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in ages. The city view I chose faced old, dusty, mouldy buildings, while the hotel across the road had a beautiful view and cost less. Noise came through the walls too. I could hear people showering, switching lights on, coughing, and talking. I checked in at 14:30 and contacted Trip.com at 15:10 because the condition was so bad. The hotel seemed to offer switching me to a sea view, but the view wasn't the only issue. For the amount I paid, I couldn't accept the lack of cleanliness. At 450,000 KRW I might have understood, but I paid far more than that. I didn't stay the night of the 19th and had to book somewhere else. On the 19th, I spoke with three different people at Trip.com and, feeling bad, offered to pay for the first night. They said I'd get a full refund for the remaining four nights. The next morning, the 20th, I was told there would be a 1500 HKD cancellation fee, which nobody had mentioned the night before. Trip.com said the service provider was responsible and that they didn't contact the hotel directly. I should have been told that on the 19th. I ended up paying for one night, somehow 214,292 KRW, plus a cancellation fee of 1100 HKD. If I'd known about the fee on the 19th, I wouldn't have offered to pay for the night. Trip.com's communication was awful. I was passed among six people, repeating the same information, and got empty promises from people who didn't know what to say despite the large amount involved. I lost 405,948 KRW because of this. I wouldn't book this hotel. Harbour plaza 8 degrees across the road was similar in price or cheaper and is easily a three-star hotel; this place barely scrapes one star. I didn't see the sea view myself, but it has to be better than the one I got. I also wouldn't book through Trip.com, given how this was handled. Pictures attached.

The rooms are okay, the staff are nice and helpful, and there's a good view and space to store suitcases under the bed. It's affordable and could work well for a long stay, as long as you don't mind that it isn't very clean.
