Panda may not feel as luxurious as a hotel, but its simple, flexible style gives you a sense of freedom. With Hong Kong tourism in a downturn since 2013 and Panda's prices dropping dramatically, I think it's a good balance of convenience and cost.

The reception counter wasn't open around the clock. I spent over an hour trying to find it, then was left with my room key and a note. Also, the hotel room and check-in counter may be in different buildings.

Walking into the room and smelling that old, stale smell made me think of my grandma. Seeing the room wiped out all my good memories of Hong Kong. I drank beer every night because I couldn't sleep without it.

It's a cute place in an interesting location, and the rooms are actually quite spacious. The elevators are super tiny, so don't bring too much stuff.

It's not attractive or luxurious, but it's in a really convenient spot near TST Station and the prices are excellent.
