This is a YWCA building, and at least one guest has to be female to book a room. It's in a quiet neighborhood. There's no metro station nearby, but buses stop right at the corner, followed by a couple of minutes walking uphill. It's affordable and clean, with only the bare minimum. I was disappointed by housekeeping. They changed the towels during our stay, but didn't make the beds or do anything else. They offer complimentary tea but no coffee, and don't refill it. Bottled water costs HK$12 each, so bring your own. The only toiletries were toothpaste and a toothbrush. They didn't even have spare wooden stirring sticks when we asked at the front desk. Are guests meant to reuse the one stick for the whole stay?

The room was a comfortable 17m2 with a window, bigger than the usual 10m2, and the price was on point. A standard room works for up to two adults and one child. The room was clean, and they cleared the towels and bins every day. I didn't hear any noise during our stay. There are plenty of buses to most tourist areas. The hill is steep, but the walk is short. My three-year-old daughter never complained during our five-night stay. I'd gladly trade convenience for a comfortable stay.

The room was big and new, but after everything that happened, none of that mattered. I'd rather stay at a more professional hotel elsewhere. I dealt with three front desk staff at different times. Only the woman seemed helpful; the other two men spoke to me in really annoying, poor tones. I tried to ignore it, but the experience was so bad I won't return to this hotel, and I won't come back to Hong Kong if they keep treating guests this way. There's no free water in the room, so enjoy carrying a big bottle up the slope. After a day of 20,000 steps, you still have to walk up that hill to get back. It's 15 minutes from Mongkok MRT. If you can find a closer hotel with free water for a little more money, just go there. Don't end up suffering and getting treated like I did.

The hot water was great, the pressure was strong, and the shower area was roomy. Still, water got through the gap in the shower door and left the floor wet. The mattress felt just right, neither too soft nor too firm. The fridge kept things cool enough, and there were free tea bags and coffee on the table. The room was clean and a decent size. I did find the light from the bathroom too bright to sleep in the morning, and it would be nice if the hotel designer addressed that. It was a great stay otherwise. Only women can check in.

This is a building with tens of hundreds of rooms, each occupied only by women of age. So if you visited each room, you'd find a different woman in it. I assume there's a manager, cashier, and maybe security. That's a very different kind of business from a hotel. You've been warned.
