I'm from the Philippines, so I was really glad there was a Filipino staff member living and working at the inn. She helped whenever I needed something or got turned around in the maze of rooms. The staff were welcoming and accommodating, and the rooms were clean and well maintained. I chose a twin room in case I felt cramped in a single. The place was affordable, and I'd recommend it.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the building is busy but centrally located. The rooms were clean. Still, I wouldn't stay here again because we found bedbugs in our first room during our December 2018 stay. After we told the front desk, they moved us to a nicer room in another section of the building. I checked it carefully and saw no bugs, kept our bags off the floor and away from the bed, and woke up several times to check again. The manager apologized the next day and seemed genuinely surprised. He suggested a previous guest's food might have attracted the bugs, which is obviously wrong. He should know what bedbugs are and how they spread and can be controlled or destroyed. If I had to stay here, I'd inspect the sheets and mattress for brown spots and check the seams for bugs, then keep luggage elevated and away from the bed.

The guest house itself was clean, and the staff were nice, but the room was so small that basically all you could do was lie on the bed. It's on the 16th floor of a rough, dirty building, and there's often a queue for the two small elevators. At night, people, including Indian or Bangladeshi people, would bother you about drugs. The building is apparently one of the centers for drug distribution. For just a few dollars more, you can easily find a better place to stay in HK.

From the street, you'd never guess there was a clean guest house up on the 16th floor. The bed, linens and comforter were clean, and the management was accommodating. There's also a kitchen with free water, including hot water, coffee and tea, and cups you can use. WiFi is free, though the connection can be unstable. Budget hotels in HK tend to have small rooms, so don't expect much space. It was a good stay.

Don't book here. The owner was unprofessional and ignorant. When I arrived, he started shouting and tried to cancel my booking so he could give the room to someone else, saying Agoda had charged too little. I had to call Agoda to intervene before he backed down. He then gave me a different room from the one I'd booked. It was dark, dirty and windowless. I stayed about two weeks, and he never cleaned the room or changed the bedding. Eventually I had to move to another hotel because I started itching and got a rash all over. I guess it was bedbugs from the dirty linens that were never changed. On top of all that, he told me I couldn't have visitors. TOMS. ASIAN INN. SHIANA. have the same owner, so be aware.
