Crowne Plaza Kunming City Centre by IHG

The central location is good, but there are plenty of other nice hotels nearby, so I’d suggest avoiding this one. It doesn’t seem well maintained. Some floors are very dim, and if I remember right, the hallway on the 17th floor leading to the rooms had very little light. There was no bellboy when we arrived either… zzzzz

We’d had a generally good stay, but the way the hotel dealt with a serious checkout issue changed our whole impression. We were sure we’d left a small bag and a branded belt in the room, and contacted the hotel as soon as we noticed. They first told us nothing had been found, which was disappointing. We then emailed twice asking them to check again or investigate properly, but got no reply.

The location was great, just a short walk from famous Nanping Street, with lots of food and shopping there. When we had an early checkout to catch our flight, they packed breakfast sets for us, and I’d return. Staff were helpful from the moment we arrived, taking our luggage from the vehicle. The room was clean, comfortable, and well designed. Of the several hotels we stayed at in Yunnan, this one had one of the best buffet breakfasts.

When I booked, I messaged to ask about airport pickup and got no reply until I called. Two days later, they told me there was no driver available. I arrived at 4 pm to find my room wasn’t ready, and they couldn’t locate my booking. It was a mess, and unacceptable for a five-star hotel. Housekeeping was lacking too: nobody changed or cleaned the wine glass.
