Kunming Jin Jiang Hotel

We picked this place mainly because we needed to catch an early train, and it’s conveniently close to Kunming Railway Station. Shops and restaurants are also within walking distance. The rooms are spacious but dated, and the corridor carpets had a musty smell. Our air conditioner was noisy and didn’t work well. Breakfast options were limited.

There are plenty of breakfast choices, and the view is a nice bonus. The room was clean and comfortable, with good quality amenities, and the beds were comfortable too. It’s in a lively neighborhood with food and shops nearby, and Kunming railway station is within walking distance. The one drawback was the lobby seating. There aren’t many seats, and you can’t sit in the lounge unless you order drinks, so you may end up standing around while you wait.

The staff were rude and unprofessional from the start. Our air conditioner was broken, and they took us through more than ten rooms in different buildings, all with broken air conditioners, without checking them first. Some rooms we entered were occupied, which invaded those guests’ privacy. When we asked why the air conditioning worked in our friends’ rooms but not ours, the explanations were unreasonable and kept changing. It was 12:25 AM, and after more than 30 minutes of being taken around, the hotel manager still hadn’t responded. The staff’s aggressive, rude, unprofessional attitude was the only consistent part of the experience.

The breakfast buffet is on the 20th floor, where the restaurant rotates, and there are various restaurants and an ATM close to the hotel. The rooms are excellent, and the hotel itself is large.
