Lavande Hotel (Kunming Changshui International Airport Terminal Platinum Port Modern Plaza)

The beds were unbelievably comfortable, and breakfast was a great buffet. The free ride from the hotel to the airport worked perfectly. There was no airport pickup available, though.

I still think about the breakfast rice noodles and snacks, and the flower cake they gave me at check-in was lovely. The rooms were clean, roomy, and well equipped. Miss Zhang and the young men in the lobby were really friendly, sent shuttle reminders on time, and helped mail my things home. I stayed twice while passing through Kunming Changshui Airport. I travel a lot, and this is one of the best places I’ve stayed. I’d definitely come back when I’m in Kunming again.

Miss Zhang gave us extra cookies, and the local specialty we tried was delicious. The cookies themselves were pretty hard, which some people may like, just not me. Still giving it five stars since taste is subjective, and the PRICE is good value for a Hilton. It’s very close to the airport and convenient, but we didn’t hear flight noise. The room was clean. The marks people call blood on the shower floor are apparently dye from a very strong cleaning agent on the stone.

There are plenty of places to eat nearby if you’re hungry, including a really good mushroom hotpot restaurant. The hotel also has a free airport shuttle from 5am. I stayed here while traveling between destinations around Yunnan and elsewhere in China. The rooms felt new and were extremely clean, and service from the front desk through to the bellboy was impeccable. DoubleTree by Hilton Kunming Airport is one of the best airport hotels I’ve stayed in, and I’d highly recommend it.
