The area around the hotel felt rather quiet, almost like a dead town or a place being renovated. The nearby mall had little going on, and during dinner only one or two restaurants on the whole eleventh floor were open, though there were a few small shops nearby. Inside, the stay was comfortable. Our twin room with an extra bed was roomy enough for three medium suitcases, and having the toilet separate from the shower made it easy for family or couples to get ready at once. Reception was reachable whenever we called.

The breakfast spread made a good first impression, with lots of food, including fruit and even dessert. I still couldn't get used to the taste of the vegetables, maybe that's just the local style. There's a mall within walking distance, handy if you like indoor shopping, and the hotel is in a strategic spot. The room and service were good, and the separate toilet and shower were a plus.

Grand Mercure Kunming South offers spacious rooms with elegant design, along with an indoor pool, fitness center, and restaurant serving local and international food. The service is friendly, and the business facilities are good. It is near the city center and attractions such as Daguan Park. A comfortable, upscale option with modern amenities for both tourists and business travelers in Kunming, blending modern comfort with local culture.
