Pankun Business Hotel

You might as well call this Pankun Love Hotel. It's at the junction of Qingnian rd and Dongfeng Rd. East, a strategic location, but hard to spot in the evening because the facade is dark and the bright LEDs on nearby buildings overshadow it. The lobby is dim and full of smoke from guests smoking inside. There's a "No smoking" sign, but ashtrays are on the table and nobody seems to care. Check-in was a nightmare. None of the staff spoke English or seemed to understand how booking sites like Agoda work. Five staff members handled us, apparently unsure what to do, and it took at least 30 minutes. They didn't even apologize for keeping us waiting. The scanner wasn't working, and nobody knew another way to take our passport details. The small lift is filled with cigarette smoke. You need to air it out for at least a minute before stepping in and breathing. The room is quite big, but run down and reeking of cigarettes on the curtains and fixtures. It's dim too, with no ceiling light. The brightest yellow light comes from a bare table lamp without a shade, so it's hard to tell whether the beds are clean. The bathroom floor isn't level, and the shower screen isn't sealed properly. Water leaks out and pools where you stand by the wash basin, right at the entrance. I nearly fell there in the middle of the night. The bottom of the bathroom door frame is moldy, and there's no dresser mirror in the bedroom. If you need to do your makeup in the dark, bring your own lamp and set it up in the room. The staff weren't helpful and didn't seem to have much international exposure or understand hospitality. When we asked where to get dinner, they just said, "Just go outside and you can find lots of food." But despite the good location, there aren't eateries as far as you can see. You have to walk at least 10 minutes to reach the first one on Nanping Rd. You can also rent the room by the hour, and a vibrated condom was provided in the room. If you're not a Chinese native and don't love the cigarette stench throughout the hotel, don't enter!
