The room was clean, the service friendly and polite, and breakfast was excellent. It’s good value as a stopover base, with convenient access to Kunming Railway station. I used it before heading to Dali/Lijang. There aren’t many tourist attractions around, but a large mall is next door with pretty much whatever you might need.

The room I stayed in, 1218, wasn’t very clean. There were dried liquid stains on the marble floor and sink, and they were still there after housekeeping had serviced the room for three days of my stay. The shower water smelled odd, almost like sewage. At the breakfast buffet, the melons and baked beans were foul. I was there from Mar 17-19. On the plus side, the location is nice, with several good restaurants next door. Service was decent overall, and Vista Cafe’s breakfast buffet had plenty of healthy options.
