Jardin Secret Hotel Lhasa

Breakfast was a real highlight, with plenty of Asian and Western choices: eggs made to order or boiled, cold cuts, fruit, pastries, breads, toast, bacon, sausages, and Chinese and Tibetan vegetable dishes. Our group of 15 stayed two nights on June 5 and 6, then returned on June 8, 2018. The rooms were spacious, clean, and pleasant, with a king bed, desk, sofa, TV, kettle, tea and coffee, and two bottles of water. The bathroom was spotless, with a shower and bathtub, and the towels were clean too. I also saw an oxygen machine for the first time, intended for guests struggling with Lhasa's 12,000-foot altitude. At reception, nobody spoke English, so we relied on gestures and a few words. The staff were still keen to help, sometimes having us type requests into their phones so an app could translate them. It was a clever workaround, though having someone on the reception team who spoke some English might make guests feel more welcome. We arrived around 12:30 on the 5th and were greeted with white silk scarves placed around our necks, a Tibetan welcome custom. While our guide checked us in, we waited in the nicely decorated lobby. Our luggage was taken to our second-floor rooms. There's also a small supermarket about 30 metres down the road for basics, including beer and spirits. We had a pleasant and enjoyable stay at Lhasa Jardin Hotel.
