Amandayan

We spent one night at Amandayan during our 12-day family road trip through Yunnan, from Kunming to Dali, Lijiang, and Shangri-La. The location made visiting Lijiang Ancient Town very convenient, and our spacious room was comfortable. The attentive, helpful service met our expectations. My father is a picky eater, and we’ve stayed at other Aman properties. We can confidently say Amandayan had the food he liked best. We really enjoyed the stay and would recommend it.

There were enjoyable activities arranged by the hotel each day, and breakfast had a lovely mix of local dishes and international options. We spent four nights at Amandayan and had an amazing time. The property was beautiful and well kept, and the staff were warm, friendly, and knew us by name. Since it sits above Lijiang Ancient Town, the old town is just a short walk away. We’d definitely stay again if we’re in Lijiang 🙂

Perched on Lion Hill(Lion Hill）, the hotel is peaceful and beautiful, with lovely views over the old town. I found the room clean, comfortable, and well cared for, with lots of attention to detail. The service impressed me too. Everyone was friendly, ready to help, and made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay.

The Chinese restaurant and cocktail bar on site were both great, and all the staff were excellent. Amandayan is laid out like a Naxi village, with attractive wood-framed buildings grouped along little alleys on a wooded slope filled with birdsong above town. Sometimes you can hear the bars below drifting up. We visited in a quieter part of the season and asked for a room on the hotel's quieter opposite side. There was a brief power cut on each of two nights, but we accepted a free massage and meal as compensation.
