The architecture is fantastic and the brand name set high expectations, but the room and service didn’t live up to them. The aircon wasn’t working, and the water pressure was very low. Housekeeping tidied the room even though we had turned on “Do not disturb.” I called housekeeping several times and nobody picked up. At checkout there was barely anyone at the lobby or valet, so most things felt self-service. The staff were generally nice, but not proactive. I’d consider another hotel if there’s a next time.

The breakfast buffet was a strong point, with plenty of drinks, fruit, yogurt, and other choices for both Chinese and Western guests. I also liked the clean, roomy rooms, their large windows and natural light, and the thoughtful lighting. We were there on a family trip in August 2024. The hotel is outside the historic center, so we needed taxis for most outings, but that also meant a quieter setting away from tourist areas. The grounds cover several buildings, and the hotel's own shuttle helped us get around and move our many bags, which we really appreciated. We had expected to eat at the hotel's advertised restaurants, including a Western option, but reception told us only the hot pot restaurant was open. We tried it, though the meal didn't feel worth the 60€, and ate outside the hotel for the rest of the stay. Some guests also made the stay uncomfortable. The reception restroom smelled of tobacco smoke on several occasions because people were smoking there, so I went back to my room instead. At the pool, I saw a woman swim for 15 minutes, then spit beside the pool with a disgusting sound. After that, I didn't use the pool. These were other guests' actions rather than hotel management's, but they still affected my experience, and smoking in the restroom isn't acceptable at a hotel of this standard.

The compound is huge, and the architecture is beautiful enough that the hotel could be a destination on its own. Buggy rides take you from reception to the rooms, and the view of the jade dragon snow mountain is great. There are lots of activities, including candy art, fishing, oil painting, crafts, and animal feeding, with alpacas, donkeys, goats, black swans, shepherd dogs, and pet ducks around the grounds. I was upgraded to a suite, probably because I'm a globalist, and the price felt like good value. I'd barely checked in and was already thinking about coming back on my next trip. This is another superb Hyatt property. Two things did bother me. I found a large spider crawling out of my shoe in the room. That's not entirely the hotel's fault, but it freaked me out. Also, the hotel charges 30 RMB for oxygen, while a nearby market sold it for 10 RMB.
